Jenny McCarthy has made it clear that she has no intention of returning to “The View.” She openly discussed her reasons for not wanting to host the popular talk show again.

The 53-year-old star – who recently opened up about the bedroom ‘challenges’ she has with husband Donnie Wahlberg – discussed the topic on Tuesday’s episode of The Katie Miller podcast

The former Playboy model co-hosted “The View” during its 17th season, which ran from 2013 to 2014. During her stint, she shared the stage with well-known personalities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters.

Reflecting on her time there, McCarthy mentioned that she was initially brought on board to add a touch of “light, fluffy, and fun” content to the show. However, she soon found that the focus shifted to more political discussions, an area she admitted she wasn’t comfortable with at the time.

“Oh, I would not, I would never even,” McCarthy stated emphatically when asked about returning. She revealed that she had been invited back for reunion episodes but firmly declined. “Over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place,” she remarked, underscoring her resolve to stay away from the show.

‘But, back then? Oh, I would not, I would never even. They’ve asked me to come back for, like, reunion shows,’ the actress explained. ‘I was like, over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place.’

The topic was brought up when the podcast host asked McCarthy if she would consider making a return to The View.

‘The reason why they wanted to bring me on is because they, quote, said it was too polarizing. They thought it was too polarizing back then, you guys,’ the star said in response.

While she was meant to be a lighthearted addition to the host lineup to offer commentary on topics such as Dancing With The Stars – McCarthy expressed that it did not last more than a week.

‘And back then, I didn’t consider myself to be a political person, which is why I thought I was perfect for the job.’

She continued, ‘After a week, when they said they wanted to get political, I was like, “Oh my God, what am I going to do?”‘

McCarthy admitted that having to shift over to political commentary had made ‘getting through that year’ very ‘difficult.’

The Scream 3 actress previously talked about her time on the talk show – which was created by Walters in 1997.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen back in 2018, the model revealed that she had been asked by producers of The View to ‘act Republican.’

'But, back then? Oh, I would not, I would never even. They've asked me to come back for, like, reunion shows,' the actress explained. 'I was like, over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place'; seen earlier this month in NYC

‘They initially had me come on to be the pop culture girl because they wanted to change it, and then Barbara didn’t know who anybody was pop culture wise,’ McCarthy said at the time.

‘They came into my dressing room and said, “Can you just act Republican so we have another point of view?”‘

And last year in July, the star once again talked about her short stint on The View with Cohen on his SiriusXM show.

The mom-of-one revealed that she had wanted to be fired and recalled, ‘They let all of us go.

‘What wound up happening was they came into the offices and Sherri came crying into my dressing room saying, “I was just let go,”‘ she said, referencing to Sherri Shepherd.

After Shepherd was fired, McCarthy soon received a heads up that she was going to be next.

‘I’m like, “Thank God.” It was a massacre. They got rid of a bunch of people.’

And during an episode of her own talk show titled Sherri on Thursday, Shepherd responded to McCarthy’s latest comments about The View.

‘It’s no secret Jenny McCarthy hated being on The View.  I remember the day they switched it to politics, Jenny came into my dressing room just like that.

‘She goes, “Sherri, Oh my God, what am I gonna do?” And I looked at her, I said, “What are you gonna do? What are we gonna do?”‘ Shepherd remembered.

The talk show host then expressed that what McCarthy had said is ‘true’ – before sharing that she ‘felt really bad for my friend.

‘Because they did – they brought her on the show after a lot of focus groups said they wanted less fighting about politics. They wanted it to be more chill and more fun.’

Shepherd recalled how McCarthy suddenly began wearing glasses on the show so it would appear like she ‘knew politics.’

‘I was sitting there and I said, “How do you have Playmate of the Year looking conservative?” They’d try to make Jenny look conservative, but all she looked like was a sexy librarian.’

Earlier this week on Wednesday, the season 14 premiere aired on Fox – and returned with a double elimination during the episode.

She is also mom to son Evan, 23, whom she shares with ex-husband John Asher. The former couple were married from 1999 until their divorce was finalized in 2005.

McCarthy later tied the knot with Donnie Wahlberg – the older brother of fellow actor Mark Wahlberg – in 2014.
