Blessing Ahuoyiza, a woman from Nigeria, has sparked a buzz online after posting a traditional Ebira wedding engagement list that her uncle received from his future wife’s family.
This list, which details the cultural obligations the groom’s family must fulfill before the wedding, soon became a hot topic on social media.
Blessing explained that her uncle received this engagement list as an essential part of the traditional marriage procedures.
Wedding List Raises Eyebrows Online
She remarked that numerous items on the list seemed costly and quite daunting.
She noted that many of the items appeared expensive and overwhelming.
Reacting to the list, she wrote online, “Dear Some Ebira people, Make una take it easy na,” a comment that immediately triggered reactions from Nigerians.
Cultural Expectations Before Marriage
The engagement list reportedly contains several items traditionally required by the bride’s family ahead of the wedding ceremony.
While such lists are common across many Nigerian cultures, the cost and quantity of items on this particular list have raised concerns about affordability.
