The hunt is still on for a Chicago-based special education teacher who has been absent since Saturday morning. Her family is growing increasingly concerned about her whereabouts.
According to recent information from CrimeOnline, the Chicago Police Department is actively searching for Linda Brown, a 53-year-old who has dedicated many years to teaching at Robert Healy Elementary School. Her unexplained disappearance has left a community anxious and eager for any leads.
January 2
- Brown’s husband, Antwon Brown, said they spent Friday evening watching a movie at their home in Bronzeville before she went to bed, according to what he told FOX 32 Chicago.
- Antwon said he went to bed a little later that night, and when he woke up the following morning at 8:30 a.m., she was not home.
January 3
- Linda reportedly had an appointment Saturday, at an acupuncture business in the Wicker Park area, but never arrived.
- Neighbors spotted her that morning in the 4500-block of South Martin Luther King Drive, which is close to her residence.
- Attempts to reach Linda by phone are unsuccessful. Family members then report her missing.
January 7
- Police locate Linda’s blue Honda Civic, but decline to divulge additional information, as the investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.
January 8
- Her sister’s husband, Lorenzo, told our “Crime Stories” staff that Linda’s vehicle had been located at 35th and Lake Park.
- Lorenzo said security footage showed her walking alone across a nearby pedestrian bridge on January 3, at around 3 a.m.
- She appeared to be alone as she crossed the bridge, walked toward the lake front.
- The security footage, according to WGN 9, was obtained from the Chicago Archdiocese building, near the 35th Street bridge.
January 9
- According to FOX 32, family members gathered to search for Linda near the bridge, but were unable to find her.
“We are looking for clues. Maybe her clothing? She was wearing a black, long Columbia winter coat. She had on like tall black boots, she likely had on her black hat,” her friend Molly Seedhouse, said, according to WGN 9.
“There is a chance she could be a little disoriented, so we are asking people if they see her to gently approach her.”
Antwon said that although his wife has a history with mental health issues, she has never left home before without returning.
“I am terrified,” Antwon said, according to NBC Chicago. “I am just shaking. I need my wife home.”
Brown told FOX 32 that he planned to continue the search Friday until sundown.
Linda Brown is described as standing 5 feet tall and weighing around 130 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and a fair complexion.
CPD urges anyone with information to contact Area One SVU detectives at 312-747-8380.
