As the new baseball season approaches, the New York Mets are poised to take center stage in some of the year’s most anticipated games, regardless of any uncertainties surrounding their team lineup.

On March 26, the Mets will kick off their season with a high-profile Opening Day matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This game, part of a doubleheader, will air at 1 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, signaling the network’s long-awaited return to Major League Baseball broadcasts.

This marks NBC’s first full season covering MLB games in over 20 years, thanks to a freshly inked broadcasting deal. The network’s 2026 MLB schedule is part of this new agreement, which promises to bring America’s pastime back to a wider audience via the network’s platforms.

The MLB announced this exciting partnership, which also includes ESPN and Netflix, shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 World Series.

These broadcasting rights are set to cover the 2026-2028 seasons, offering fans a renewed way to enjoy the game.

As for the Mets-Pirates game, barring injury, Pittsburgh’s opening day starter is anticipated to be reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes.

After the matinee, the night game will feature the two-time World Series defending champion Dodgers and the Diamondbacks.

The Mets will be back on the NBC/Peacock three more times — June 21 (Phillies, 7 p.m.), July 5 (Braves, 12:30 p.m.) and Aug. 30 (Astros, 7 p.m.).

The Yankees will have three outings on NBC, beginning with a date with the rival Red Sox on June 28. They’ll then play the Dodgers and Phillies on the network on back-to-back Sundays on July 19 and 26.
