Puka Nacua drops potential second touchdown in rough Rams miss

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In a surprising turn of events, Puka Nacua’s unusual drop seemed to rob the Rams of a sure six points on Saturday night.

During the last 30 seconds of the first half in their wild-card clash against the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, quarterback Matthew Stafford aimed a deep pass at Nacua, which looked destined to be an easy touchdown.

Had the catch been successful, it would have likely given Los Angeles a comfortable 10-point advantage before halftime. Instead, the ball slipped through Nacua’s fingers, forcing the Rams to punt.

Following the play, Nacua, who had managed to outmaneuver Panthers’ Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn on that crucial third down, sat on the bench, visibly stunned. Rams head coach Sean McVay was later seen offering him support.

Before this pivotal moment, Nacua had been performing impressively, securing six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown, along with scoring a rushing touchdown.

Stafford had only found three others outside of Nacua in the game’s first 30 minutes.

The Rams headed into the locker room at halftime up 17-14.
