CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Puka Nacua showcased his prowess by scoring two touchdowns and catching 10 passes totaling 111 yards during the Rams’ playoff triumph on Saturday. Yet, the highlight that caught everyone’s admiration was a remarkable defensive maneuver he executed.

During the fourth quarter of Los Angeles’ clash against the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., Nacua leapt high to snatch an interception from defensive back Nick Scott, a move that seemed destined to alter the game’s outcome.

If Scott had succeeded, the interception could have dramatically shifted the Rams’ season trajectory. However, thanks to Nacua’s intervention, the Rams retained possession and soon pushed forward to score a touchdown, edging the game to 27-24. They ultimately emerged victorious with a 34-31 win.

Coach Sean McVay described Nacua’s defensive play as “unbelievable,” and didn’t hold back in showering the star receiver with accolades for his performance.

“He’s a freakin’ warrior,” McVay exclaimed, expressing his appreciation, “I love him. Grateful he’s on our squad.”

The cornerback-like abilities were also not lost on Rams defensive back Cobie Durant, who joked Nacua might be in some of his meeting rooms in the coming days.

“He might be at safety next week,” Durant said. “You never know. You never know what we might do.”

For Nacua’s part, he sure seemed to think if he were in the same position again, the outcome would be similar.

“If it’s not me coming down with the ball,” he said, “nobody can come down with it.”
