SiriusXM toasts Golden Globes podcast nominees at LA’s hottest restaurant, Max & Helen’s

Hollywood’s Golden Globes weekend was abuzz with one of its most talked-about parties kicking off bright and early at 9 a.m.

SiriusXM threw a morning celebration for its podcast nominees at Max & Helen’s, a trendy Los Angeles diner co-owned by Phil Rosenthal, the creator of “Everybody Loves Raymond” and a renowned food enthusiast. Since opening its doors in November, the diner has been notorious for its weekend wait times of up to eight hours, purportedly the longest in Los Angeles history.

However, SiriusXM secured the coveted venue for its “Before The Buzz” event on Saturday morning. The star-studded guest list included “SmartLess” podcast hosts Will Arnett, Sean Hayes, and Jason Bateman; “Call Her Daddy” creator Alex Cooper; motivational speaker Mel Robbins; comedian Conan O’Brien; actor Ted Danson; music industry titan Irving Azoff; and actor Dax Shepard.

Other notable attendees mingling at the event were comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, “Pod Save America” hosts Jon Favreau and Jon Lovett, comedian Tig Notaro, comedian Alex Edelman, media personality Sway Calloway, and comedian Tom Papa, among others.

Adding a unique touch to the festivities, SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer, Scott Greenstein, took a turn behind the counter to serve the guests.

Saturday night was filled with over-the-top bashes, but an insider told us that SiriusXM didn’t want to do a big party, but rather have its stars and VIPs “mix with stars in a cool, easy vibe at the hottest place in town with the nicest people running it who you just love supporting.”

(We’re not sure that Rosenthal and his Max & Helen’s partner, Nancy Silverton of Mozza fame, need the support! Rosenthal previously told The Hollywood Reporter of his 40-seat restaurant that even Steven Spielberg gave him two days notice just to try and land a table for two.)

Other top SiriusXM brass at the morning party included CEO Jennifer Witz.

Guests at the fete that ran till noon sampled the restaurant’s signature items, including the waffle with maple butter (a viral sensation), the New York breakfast sandwich, and Lily Rosenthal’s very hot Lily’s Hot Chocolate.

Josh Beckerman — aka the Foodie Magician — performed.

As guests of honor were being toasted, O’Brien joked he also wanted to be thanked for driving all the way over to the party from the Westside.

It’s the first year the Globes have included a best podcast category, with nominees including “Smartless,” “Call Her Daddy,” “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” Shepherd’s “Armchair Expert,” Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” and NPR’s “Up First.”
