Authorities have gathered all available surveillance footage from the Tepe neighborhood, concentrating on the window between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. During their review, they discovered footage of an individual walking through the alley behind the Tepe residence.
The police have identified this person as Michael McKee. Additionally, a car with an Illinois license plate was seen entering the neighborhood shortly before the tragic events at the Tepe home and departing soon after.
This vehicle is registered to Michael McKee, a vascular surgeon based in Chicago, who is also the former husband of Monique Tepe. The car was later tracked to Rockford, Illinois.
Inside the vehicle, investigators uncovered evidence that ties McKee to the murders of Spencer and Monique Tepe. However, authorities have not disclosed the specific nature of this evidence.
While the motive behind these brutal killings remains undisclosed, the police have confirmed that McKee had possession of the vehicle both prior to and following the homicides.
The arrest warrant for McKee says the murders took place at 3:52 am, and McKee is identified by surveillance video and the vehicle. McKee is charged with two counts of murder and is currently in a Winnebago County jail awaiting extradition to Ohio.
Monique Tepe married vascular surgeon Michael McKee in August 2015, but separated as a couple after just seven months. The couple had no children.
Monique stated the reason for the divorce was that they were “incompatible.” After living separately and apart for a year, divorce proceedings began in May 2017, and the divorce was final the next month.
