In Clermont, located within the Isaac region, the rain finally subsided after the town experienced its most intense rainfall in over a century, resulting in floodwaters that inundated numerous residences.

The heavy downpour wreaked havoc, leaving roads, homes, and fences in its wake of destruction.

The downpour also resulted in a number of rescues over the past 24 hours.

Faced with rising waters, locals utilized private helicopters to navigate through the streets, assisting families in evacuating from homes submerged in knee-deep water.

A truck driver was also rescued by a chopper from the roof of his vehicle that became submerged in floodwaters.

Throughout the night, swift water rescue teams tirelessly worked to save stranded motorists who had sought refuge atop their vehicles along the Gregory Highway.

Premier David Crisafulli has been on the ground this afternoon as residents survey the damage.

Crisafulli expressed gratitude, stating, “I want to extend my thanks to the swift water rescue teams and all emergency services involved.”

“I also want to thank everyday people, there were neighbours who rescued each other, there were angels in the sky who came and rescued complete strangers.

“Without that there would have been tragedies.”

Attention is now turning to the already flooded north-west, where significant rainfall is expected from tomorrow to Friday this week.
