(NEXSTAR) – Famed author Colleen Hoover, whose works have captivated readers and thrived on social media platforms, recently disclosed a cancer diagnosis.

“Only one more day of radiation left!” she shared enthusiastically on her Instagram story this Monday.

Hoover has remained relatively private about the specifics of her condition but did share on Facebook that genetic testing revealed her cancer wasn’t hereditary.

“It also didn’t stem from the two leading causes of cancer—HPV and excessive hormones,” she explained. “This suggests that factors like environment or lifestyle, such as a sedentary routine, poor diet, and stress, are likely to blame.”

In a light-hearted note to her fans, she mentioned, “If you spot me at a restaurant munching on grilled chicken and sipping water, know that I’m probably not thrilled about it.” Hoover humorously added her aversion to vegetables, breaking a sweat, getting up from the couch, and when “science proves to be correct.”

“If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job.”

Hoover, a best-selling author, has written more than two dozen novels. Two, “It Ends With Us” and “Regretting You,” have been adapted for film. The cast of the former quickly became the center of controversy in 2024 when Blake Lively accused director and co-star Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of the movie and a subsequent effort to “destroy” her reputation in a legal complaint.

Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion. His claims were dismissed in June 2025. A March 2026 trial date was set for Lively’s suit.

The next Hoover adaptation, “Reminders of Him,” will be released in theaters on March 13. The film adaptation of “Verity” is set to be released in October.

In September, Hoover announced her newest book, “Woman Down.” The thriller was released on Tuesday.

“It has been way too long!” Hoover wrote on Instagram on Monday, announcing the release.
