The transfer window is now open, and fresh updates have emerged from Simon Jones of Daily Mail Sport regarding today’s developments.

Championship clubs chase Lawrence

Tom Lawrence is making waves in Australia, capturing the attention of several Championship clubs. Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, and Charlton Athletic are keenly observing the midfielder’s performance following his brief stint with Perth Glory.

Since joining the A-League team on a short-term contract, Lawrence has made a significant impact. In just nine matches, the former Wales international has notched up seven goal contributions and earned three Man of the Match honors, swiftly becoming one of the league’s most notable talents.

Norwich City is particularly interested, largely due to Lawrence’s previous collaboration with ex-Rangers manager Philippe Clement. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers, where Lawrence once played on loan, is also keeping a close eye on his development.

Norwich City’s interest is understood to be influenced by Lawrence’s previous working relationship with former Rangers manager, Philippe Clement, while Blackburn Rovers — a club where he previously spent time on loan — are also tracking his progress.

Charlton Athletic are another potential suitor, with head coach Nathan Jones’ Welsh connection believed to be a factor.

Perth Glory are reportedly keen to reward Lawrence’s form with a longer-term contract, but sources suggest they may struggle to compete financially should Championship clubs firm up their interest.

Lawrence has significant pedigree at that level, having made over 250 appearances in the English second tier during his career.

Interest is not limited to England. Fellow A-League clubs Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory are also keeping a close watch after Lawrence’s recent standout performances, which included a hat-trick and a spectacular ‘Olimpico’ goal against Central Coast Mariners last weekend.

With his current contract set to expire in five months, Lawrence is believed to be available for a fee in the region of £130,000 — a figure that could prove attractive to a number of clubs seeking proven quality and experience.

As his stock continues to rise, a return to the Championship looks an increasingly realistic prospect for a player who has wasted little time in reminding clubs of his ability.

Faes joins Monaco… and Dier is reluctant to leave

Leicester City defender Wout Faes has joined AS Monaco on loan for the remainder of the season.

As Daily Mail Sport reported, the 27-year-old made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes during the first half of the season but had been left out of late as they looked for buyers.

Faes cost Leicester £15m from Stade Reims in the summer of 2022 ago and is one of the club’s biggest earners with 18 months left on his current contract.

West Ham had asked about Monaco’s Eric Dier but it’s understood the ex-England centre back is reluctant to leave the Principality.

Villa’s Malen waiting on Roma loan deal

Earlier today we brought you news that Donyell Malen is wanted by Roma and Daily Mail Sport’s Tom Collomosse reports that the Aston Villa winger is now waiting for the Serie A side to finalise their swoop for Marseille forward Robinio Vaz before he completes his own move.

Malen will be allowed to leave Villa to give Unai Emery the chance to bring in another forward and Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini is an admirer of the Dutchman.

Villa remain desperate to strengthen in midfield and attack and had also looked at Vaz, 18, who now appears destined for the Italian capital in a £25m move.

The move for Malen would include an option to buy for £21million. Villa bought Malen, 26, from Borussia Dortmund for a similar figure last year.

Roma and Villa have still to determine the future of Leon Bailey. The winger joined Roma last summer on a season-long but is no longer wanted by Gasperini, who would be willing to cut short the deal.

The clubs are also expected to discuss striker Tammy Abraham who is a target for Villa but is on loan at Besiktas who have an option to buy.

RB Leipzig steal march on Premier League giants

RB Leipzig are finalising a £4.5m deal for winger Suleiman Sani from Trencin as they brace themselves for offers for Yan Diomande.

Manchester City, Brentford and Spurs had shown varying interest in 19-year-old Sani who is a Nigeria U20 international.

Like Diomande, he is predominantly a left winger and his signing is a nod towards Leipzig preparing for the future.

Diomande has spoken of his desire to one day play for Liverpool while Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Manchester United are confirmed admirers. Leipzig have been insisting he won’t leave this month unless it’s a substantial fee of around £70million, but they know that won’t necessarily deter English suitors if they become more desperate to add attacking talent.

Forest want Tavernier

Nottingham Forest have made an enquiry for Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier.

Bournemouth are insisting he is not for sale.

Tavernier, 26, scored in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Newcastle and will be important to Andoni Iraola over the next few weeks.

The Cherries are already in the throes of trying to replace Antoine Semenyo and have Justin Kluivert out for four months following knee surgery.

Enes Unal, Ben Gannon-Doak, Tyler Adams, Ryan Christie and William Dennis are also all nursing injuries.

Ajer of interest

Brentford are braced for an offer from Wolfsburg for defender Kristoffer Ajer.

Middlesbrough target Munroe

Aston Villa are in talks to sell left-back Finley Munroe to Middlesbrough.

The 20-year-old has been recalled from his loan spell at Swindon Town amid interest from Boro and Championship rivals Bristol City.

Both clubs offered around £350,000 but Boro are also offering a sell-on clause and the deal is edging their way.

Munroe joined Villa after leaving Chelsea’s academy in 2021 and has impressed under Ian Holloway in League Two.

He made his debut for Villa as a late substitute in the Europa Conference League semi-final defeat at Olympiakos, before coming on against Crystal Palace in May 2024.
