The cause of death for actor and model Ethan Browne has been confirmed, following his passing at the age of 52.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s records released on Tuesday, January 13, Ethan, son of renowned singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, died on November 25, 2025. The report cites “effects of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and lidocaine” as the causes.

Ethan, well-known for his role in “Raising Helen,” was found unresponsive at his residence. This sad news was shared in a Facebook post by his father, Jackson Browne, aged 77, on November 26, 2025.

The statement expressed, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce Ethan Browne, son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home on the morning of November 25, 2025, and has passed away.”

The family has requested privacy and respect during this challenging period, and no additional details are available at this time.

The famed singer-songwriter welcomed Ethan with Phyllis Major in 1973. The pair tied the knot in 1975.

Jackson’s marriage to Major eventually ended in 1976 when she tragically died by suicide at age 30.

In 2021, Jackson reflected on Major’s death in an interview with Route Magazine, saying his son became his “main focus” afterward.

“I only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father,” he said. “And I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope I’ll know it, and just do that. “

Ethan grew up to make a career for himself as an actor and model.

As a child, he appeared alongside his famous dad on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1974 — when he was just six months old.

He went on to star alongside Angelina Jolie in 1995’s “Hackers.” In 2004, he starred in the Kate Hudson film “Raising Helen.”

He also made an appearance in a single episode of the “Batman” spinoff series “Birds of Prey” on The WB in 2002.

As a model, he appeared in campaigns for designers like Isaac Mizrahi, according to producer Mark Ronson’s memoir, “Night People,” per People.
