DEARING, Ga. () Kelly Evans is passionate about her young students, transforming kindergarten into an enjoyable experience that inspires a love for learning.
“I’ve always felt a special connection with younger children,” Evans explains. “This is truly where I thrive, a place with less attitude and more gratitude.”
Understanding that young children are easily distracted, Ms. Evans employs creative strategies to keep them engaged.
“We incorporate fun elements to maintain their interest. Whether it’s using Goldfish, M&M’s, Skittles, or whatever it takes, we’re committed to making concepts clear and engaging,” she shares.
Originally from Kansas, Ms. Evans relocated here about ten years ago.
“I moved here for love, I found a family here at Dearing Elementary. I am blessed to come to a place that I love with people that I love, and I get to do what I love.”
And when she’s not here in the classroom, she’s helping her colleagues.
“I serve as the grade chair for the Kindergarten team. And also as a mentor for new teachers that come into our district.”
So whether it’s teaching children or helping her fellow educators, Kelly Evans stays very busy. And sometimes, she takes a moment to appreciate the rewards of all that hard work.
“It’s such an exciting thing to be able to watch our kids go all the way through 5th grade,” she says.
“And then see them do our dog walk, going to middle school. It is a great feeling to know that I played a role in their educational success when they were here at Dearing.”
