On Wednesday, President Trump emphasized the necessity for the United States to gain control of Greenland, citing “National Security” as a critical reason. He firmly stated that failing to do so would be “unacceptable,” just as he prepared for significant discussions with leaders from Denmark and Greenland.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged NATO to spearhead efforts to secure the world’s largest island for the US, warning, “IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!”

Trump argued that without the robust military strength of the United States, much of which he claims to have enhanced during his first term and is now elevating further, NATO would fall short as a credible force. He insisted, “NATO becomes far more formidable and effective with Greenland in the hands of the UNITED STATES.”

His remarks came just ahead of Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s scheduled talks with officials from Copenhagen, aimed at addressing tensions over the US administration’s controversial proposal to annex Greenland, an island that has long been under Danish governance.
