Authorities have reported a tragic incident in Bedford-Stuyvesant where an 85-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in her residence. Her grandson, described as unstable, is currently in police custody, according to officials and law enforcement sources.

The victim, identified as Julia Boomer, was discovered in her apartment on Throop Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday. She was quickly transported to Kings County Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead, police confirmed.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Boomer’s 22-year-old grandson initially fled the scene but later returned. He is now being questioned by detectives from the NYPD’s 79th Precinct.

As of now, no formal charges have been brought against him.

Sources indicate that a dispute between Boomer and her grandson escalated into violence. This wasn’t the first time tensions had flared between them, as there was at least one previous domestic incident reported.

The elderly woman was stabbed multiple times in the head and torso, the sources said.

Records show that her grandson, whose name is being withheld because he has not been charged, has two open criminal cases in Brooklyn, a harassment and petty larceny case from Oct. 27, 2025 and a grand larceny and assault case stemming from an incident on July 3.
