Evenflo has initiated a voluntary recall of a significant number of its All4One 4-in-1 convertible car seats due to internal test results that highlighted potential issues with the seat’s performance when used in rear-facing mode.

The recall, as outlined by both Evenflo and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affects 74,710 units produced between January 2022 and June 2024. These seats were sold across the United States and Canada. The problem was officially communicated to the NHTSA on December 24, 2025.

In a statement posted on their official website, Evenflo mentioned, “Certain All4One 4-in-1 convertible car seats are being recalled after tests indicated that the seat might shift between recline positions during a crash when rear-facing.”

The announcement emphasized, “Ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families who rely on our products is of utmost importance to us, and this recall is a precautionary measure.”

But what implications does this recall have for families using these car seats?

Well, NHTSA’s documentation states that if the seat changes recline position during a collision, a person sitting next to the child restraint could be at risk of injury if their fingers are placed inside the opening above the recline indicator. The company noted that the shifting of the seat does not impact the effectiveness of the restraint itself.

Evenflo says parents do not need to stop using the car seat while waiting for a replacement car seat.

“Parents and caregivers may continue to use the car seat, including in rear-facing mode. However, when the seat is used rear-facing, it is prudent to take care to prevent any passenger from inserting their fingers into the recline mechanism,” the company stated.

As a temporary precaution against the risk of pinching fingers, Evenflo suggests that parents fold a small towel and place it “inside the recline mechanism to fill in the open space.” (see above example)

Owner notification letters will begin mailing on Jan. 26, 2026. Families with registered products will automatically receive information on obtaining a free replacement unit. Those who have not registered their car seat can contact the company at [email protected] or call (800) 233-5921 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

The recall applies only to specific All4One 4-in-1 seats. Model numbers can be found on the label located on the back or bottom of the car seat. U.S. models included in the recall are:
