In a developing situation in Minneapolis, an officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) discharged his weapon, injuring a man in the leg during what began as a routine traffic stop. The confrontation, which took place Wednesday evening, spiraled into a physical altercation involving three individuals, as detailed by the Department of Homeland Security.

According to NewsNation’s sources, the injured man was residing in the United States without legal authorization and was the focal point of ICE’s operation. The shooting occurred on 27th Avenue North, where the man was reportedly shot after two other individuals intervened, attacking the ICE officer.

The Department of Homeland Security released a statement indicating that the incident unfolded around 6:50 p.m. The ICE agents were attempting to apprehend the man, identified as an “illegal alien from Venezuela.” Events took a chaotic turn when the individual, in a bid to evade capture, crashed his vehicle into a parked car and then fled on foot.

As the situation escalated, the Venezuelan man allegedly assaulted the ICE officer, prompting two others to join in the fray. They reportedly brandished a snow shovel and a broom handle during the attack.
