Hilaria Baldwin recently shared her experiences of being married to someone significantly older. Speaking on the November 13 episode of the Uncut and Uncensored podcast, the 41-year-old wellness expert discussed how she and her husband, Alec, who is 67, have turned to therapy to help bridge their 26-year age difference.

“There are moments when I have to remind myself that he has 26 more years of life experience,” Hilaria said. “Sometimes that’s beneficial, and other times it means we need a bit of therapy to work through things.”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, are parents to seven children. Alec also shares a 30-year-old daughter, Ireland, with his former wife, Kim Basinger, 71. Addressing Alec’s past, Hilaria remarked, “He had a well-known and complex situation with his previous marriage and with Ireland. I believe he wanted to approach things differently this time and make new choices.”

Despite the challenges of family life, Hilaria described their home as thoughtfully managed, though not without its hurdles. “Do we have typical marital disagreements? Absolutely,” she conceded. “But our mutual desire to be committed and make it work helps us tackle anything together.”

Reflecting on how marriage and fame initially impacted her identity, Hilaria confessed, “I feel like I lost part of myself when I married Alec.” She noted that being in the public eye brought unprecedented scrutiny. Sharing advice she found online, she recounted, “A woman on Instagram said, ‘You must clearly define your identity, or others will do it for you, as everyone has an opinion.’ This isn’t advice from a celebrity; it’s universal because, famous or not, we’re all just human.”

Now, Hilaria says she has a clearer understanding of herself and how to maintain it in the public eye. “I haven’t been as clear as I should have been with myself about my identity,” she said. “People can say this or that. I cannot stop them. But I can know myself in a way that hopefully it won’t give me that nauseous pit in my stomach that I’ve experienced so many times.”
