Meghan Markle is stepping back into the spotlight, marking her return to acting with the romantic comedy Close Personal Friends. This new venture from Amazon MGM Studios features a star-studded cast, including Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid.
As reported by The Sun, Meghan was seen filming in Pasadena, California, on November 5, where she is said to be portraying herself. This role is her first acting gig since leaving the popular legal series Suits in 2017, prior to her marriage to Prince Harry.
The film is directed by Jason Orley, known for his work on Bupkis and I Want You Back, with Isaac Aptaker, the writer behind How I Met Your Father and I Want You Back, penning the script. While the storyline remains confidential, a source from the studio told The Sun that Meghan’s involvement is a significant milestone for her and a chance to “return to what she truly loves.”
An insider explained, “She’s had numerous offers, but this project felt right for her. It’s her way of testing the waters again and seeing how she feels about being on set. Everyone is thrilled about her participation and has been asked to keep it under wraps. Prince Harry fully supports her and wants her to pursue her happiness.”
Collins, who’s starring in the film, even posted a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram with her co-stars, captioning it, “Close (personal) friends only…” Golding replied, “💃🏼🎉The 4 best friends anybody ever had 🎉💃🏼,” while Quaid added a few simple red heart emojis.
According to someone present during the shoot, Meghan seemed “very relaxed and happy” while filming. “She introduced herself to everyone, displaying a sweet and approachable demeanor,” the source shared. “Her role is small, but she appeared genuinely pleased to be back in the acting environment.”
While Close Personal Friends doesn’t yet have an official release date, anticipation is already sky-high.
