For Emerson and Beckett, this event marked their inaugural appearance at a red carpet function alongside their mother. Meanwhile, Harper, the eldest, is no stranger to such events, having previously attended industry premieres with Rhimes. Recently, she joined her mother at the Los Angeles premiere of The Residence in March 2025.
Rhimes embarked on her motherhood journey in 2002 with the adoption of Harper. She expanded her family by adopting Emerson in 2012 and welcoming Beckett via surrogacy in 2013. Over the years, Rhimes has candidly shared her experiences of balancing her demanding career in television with the joys and challenges of raising her children.
During a past appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Rhimes reflected on becoming a first-time mom around the same time Grey’s Anatomy premiered.

“I became a mom at the same time that Grey’s Anatomy came out,” Rhimes said while speaking about Harper. “And that was like, as a working mother, that was the hardest, most devastating, most amazing situation to be in the middle of.”
“My daughter grew up thinking I worked in a hospital. She did, because that’s where she was all the time,” she continued. “And so then, like ten years on, I thought, okay, so I’ve had one daughter and 37 actors, but she doesn’t have any siblings.”

“And so then it was the middle of Scandal, and I was like, ‘I’m gonna have two more kids.’ And that was a plan.”
The Paris premiere comes ahead of the upcoming season of Bridgerton, which remains one of Netflix’s most-watched series.
