The tragic discovery of an 8-year-old girl from Arizona has sent shockwaves through the community. On Friday, officials confirmed that Maleeka Boone, who disappeared on Thursday, was found deceased.
The Navajo Police Department reported the heartbreaking conclusion to their search in the Coalmine area. Boone was last seen on foot near the Coalmine Navajo Housing. However, the authorities have yet to release further details about the circumstances of her disappearance or how she was found.
A Turquoise Alert had been issued for Boone due to her indigenous heritage and the location being within the Navajo Nation. This alert was later canceled by the FBI, which is collaborating with local authorities in the investigation surrounding Boone’s disappearance and subsequent death.
As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed the cause of Boone’s death, nor have they commented on whether foul play is suspected. The timeline and details of Boone’s last known whereabouts remain under scrutiny as police continue to gather information from her family and community.
“Details of when Maleeka Boone was last seen from her family and community members is still under investigation,” police said.
