Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials might be brief, spanning only three episodes, but it certainly delivers a thrilling experience.

This latest Netflix mystery follows the trail of young Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, portrayed by Mia McKenna-Bruce, who is thrust into a murder investigation after her beloved is found dead under suspicious circumstances following a party at her residence. Eileen’s sharp observational prowess quickly makes her an invaluable asset to Superintendent Battle, played by Martin Freeman, as they edge closer to unraveling the mystery.

In a climactic twist during the season finale, aptly titled “The Finger Points,” the mastermind behind the scheme is shockingly close to both Eileen and Battle, far closer than either had anticipated.

While it remains uncertain whether Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials will see a second season, with Netflix yet to announce a renewal, the final episode leaves the door open for many more escapades featuring Eileen.

Curious about the climactic conclusion of Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials and what mysteries may lie ahead? Read on to explore the enticing possibilities this new series holds.

Episode 3 begins with yet another tragic flashback, setting the tone for a heartbreaking episode. The flashback shows a young Eileen, flanked by both of her parents this time, as they watch the coroner nail her brother’s coffin shut. A plaque on the coffin reveals Thomas Edward Brent died at the age of 18. But the flashback also gives a glimpse of Eileen’s father, revealing him to be the mysterious man who died in the coliseum at the beginning of the series.

The episode then returns to the present when Eileen comes across Jimmy’s body at Wyvern Abbey. Much to everyone’s relief, he’s not dead. Jimmy startles awake and claims he’s been shot in the arm by a masked man who escaped through the window. But amid all of the commotion, Eileen notices Dr. Matip is the only person who hasn’t come down from his bedroom. She rushes upstairs with Battle close behind where they discover Dr. Matip is very much alive but in a deep sleep. Eileen discovers he’s been dosed with the same sedative that killed Gerry. But why? Well, the safe containing his pocket watch and the steel formula has been emptied, which means whoever poisoned Dr. Matip and shot Jimmy made off with one of the country’s most prized secrets.

This is when the series becomes a true Agatha Christie whodunnit. Battle gets all of the Wyvern Abbey guests in the library to announce his officers have secured the estate and no one is allowed to leave. But they find one “miscreant” trying to break in – Lorraine, Gerry’s sister. And most intriguingly, Sir Oswald chose that exact moment to return for an evening stroll. And he did not come empty-handed: He brandishes a pistol he found on the lawn during his walk. With this new evidence in hand, Battle sends everyone to their rooms for the evening.

The next morning, Eileen narrowly escapes an awkward (but rather passionate) marriage proposal from George Lomax by quite literally jumping out of her window. Fortunately for her, she lands on the lawn just in time to join Battle for his close inspection of where the pistol was found. Her keen attention to detail helps her realize exactly what Battle had noticed: Only one set of footprints in the grass, which means only one assailant was outside. And the indent in the lawn suggests the pistol had been thrown from a distance.

Inside, Battle gathers all of the Wyvern Abbey guests to explain his findings. But he can barely get a sentence out until Lady Coote interrupts him to tell Lorraine she’s missing an earring, prompting Lorraine to rush upstairs to her room with an officer to chaperone her.

While she’s upstairs, Battle continues sharing his evidence, which includes two bullets and a burned glove that Eileen notices has teeth marks in it. Battle then has Sir Oswald toss the pistol through the window to the lawn as a test, except it lands 10 yards further than where it was found.

Amidst this investigation, Battle realizes there is one person missing: Lorraine. He and Eileen rush upstairs to find his officer knocked out. Lorraine stole a car and took off with Dr. Matip’s pocketwatch and his work.

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials Ending Explained: Who killed Gerry Wade?

With Jimmy and William in tow, Eileen speeds off towards the railroad station to find Lorraine, where they catch her boarding a train. Soon after they board, William suggests they split up, prompting Jimmy to suggest he’s “acting a tad peculiar” and suggests William could be working with Lorraine.

They soon find William cornered Lorraine in the cargo cart. Lorraine, held at gunpoint, admits she stole Dr. Matip’s formula and the sample in her brother’s honor. Amid their standoff, she realizes it’s no use and outs Jimmy as her accomplice.

Eileen begins to piece it all together. There was no attacker at Wyvern Abbey. Jimmy shot himself in the arm while wearing the glove to conceal his fingerprints and he threw it in the fireplace to get rid of the evidence. The shooting provided all of the distraction Lorraine needed to drug Dr. Matip and steal the formula. When Jimmy shoots William, knocking him out, Eileen continues piecing the investigation together: Lorraine poisoned Gerry, while Jimmy was the one who shot their friend Ronny.

Jimmy then attempts to escape Eileen, but they soon find themselves in a standoff. He admits to it all – he shot and killed Ronny because he had figured out a little too much, but it was Lorraine’s idea to kill Gerry. Jimmy was the one who left the seven clocks on the mantlepiece to throw everyone off his scent. He makes it clear he was not the mastermind behind the plan, merely a worker bee. Whoever planned the whole thing is sitting in the first class compartment at the front of the train, waiting to receive Dr. Matip’s work.

That’s all Eileen needs to hear. She knocks him out and orders some of the other passengers to keep an eye on him. Meanwhile, Will finds Lorraine hiding in the bathroom and locks her in.

Eileen rushes to the first class compartment where she finds the last person she could have ever expected sitting patiently: Her own mother, Lady Caterham. Eileen is clearly heartbroken when she joins her mother in the compartment and asks why she’s here. She accuses Lady Caterham of killing Gerry – the man she loved – which she denies and blames on Lorraine. She also accuses Lady Caterham of “betraying” her country by trying to sell Dr. Matip’s work to their enemies.

But Lady Caterham claims her country “betrayed” their family by taking her only son and using him as “canon fodder.” She goes on to say she “lost everyone I ever loved,” prompting a heartbroken Eileen to ask her mother, “Am I not enough?”

The tragic moment makes Lady Caterham switch course and explain that she hatched this plan to help their family, since they’re now destitute without her brother or her father in the picture. And to top it all off, Lady Caterham asks for a chance to run the authorities arrive.

Luckily, it’s only a matter of time before Battle arrives and puts two and two together. Heartbroken, Eileen leaves her mother in Battle’s custody and walks away from the scene.

And that’s the end of the Seven Dials mystery. Eileen returns to Chimneys by herself, where she’s left to mourn not only the man she almost married, but also what was left of her family. Her solitude is interrupted by the arrival of Alfred, her former footman, who points a gun at her and asks her to join him at The Seven Dials Club.

When she arrives at the club, she realizes she’s been asked to join a meeting of the Seven Dials. She assumes she’s going to be killed and demands the person behind dial number seven reveal himself at the very least. When he does, she’s shocked to realize it’s Battle behind the mask. He explains that the Seven Dials were not responsible for the scheme; instead, he was at Wyvern to protect Dr. Matip. “This group is an informal alliance endeavoring to keep our world safe in turbulent times,” he explains. “Dark forces are rising across the world we do what we can to prevent them from gaining supremacy.”

Battle invites Eileen to join the Seven Dials. In order to convince her, he reveals that her father was also a member of the group when he passed away. Her father died on a mission years ago when he was heading to meet Dr. Matip. Her mother likely learned about Dr. Matip’s work by speaking to her late husband’s contacts.

The series ends with Eileen putting the mask over her head and asking Battle to tell her everything, signaling the start of a very interesting partnership that we will (hopefully!) get to see more of in a second season.

For now, it’s good to know that Eileen has Battle in her corner.
