Lynsey Crombie, a familiar face from ITV’s “This Morning” and famously known as the “Queen of Clean,” has candidly shared the harrowing experience of discovering her husband’s dark secret. While 28 weeks pregnant, Crombie learned that her husband was a paedophile, a revelation that left her feeling overwhelmed with disgust and shame. In a desperate attempt to cleanse herself of the association, she scrubbed her skin with bleach. “I remember pouring it over the work surfaces and onto my hands and arms, scrubbing fervently,” she recalled.

This intense cleaning ritual became a coping mechanism for Crombie, who found herself frantically trying to rid her home—and herself—of any trace of him. She admitted that she scrubbed not just her surroundings but also her own skin with a scourer. The emotional turmoil she endured led her to question the future of her unborn children, yet she felt she had no choice in the matter. The stress and shock brought on by the discovery resulted in her going into premature labor, with both daughters, Mollie and Olivia, arriving underweight at just under 3lbs each.

In a heartfelt conversation with the Daily Mail, Crombie credited her children with saving her life, expressing that she might not have survived without them. She now refers to her estranged husband, a former executive at a multinational firm, as “The Freak,” refusing to utter his name. She describes his actions as “the worst” and maintains that he plays no role in their children’s lives.

Crombie also revealed a chilling detail: on their wedding day, she had discovered he had prior convictions. However, he had dismissed them as the result of a fight, a story she now knows was far from the truth.

She claimed to have discovered he had previous convictions on her wedding day, but said he told her that it was due to being in a fight.

She admits in hindsight she can now pinpoint a number of occasions where she should have seen the red flags about the situation.

In a 2020 interview with Reading Chronicle, she revealed how she found out about his appalling predilections. “It’s not easy to talk about,” she said. “I had moved to Newcastle with him for his job when I was 24. I was pregnant at the time and as soon as we moved there, he was on his computer a lot more and things weren’t quite right.

“Then one morning, at about 5am, the police knocked, ripped my house apart and took him away. That was the first I knew. I had no inkling beforehand that anything was wrong.”

She met her second husband, Rob when the girls were 18 months old, and said her daughters consider him to be their dad. Lynsey and Rob also share a teenage son.

Despite rebuilding her life, she said her ex has previously reached out to her during prison stints. “He got two years last year, it’s the third or fourth time he’s been in,” she said explaining the police had found “content of children and animals on his computer”.
