'Happy Friday': AAG Dhillon Reminds the Dems Running VA Elections That DOJ 'Means Business' With New Suit

Since reentering the White House in January 2025, the Trump administration has doggedly pursued waste, fraud, and misuse within the nation’s voter registration systems.

At the forefront of this mission to safeguard electoral honesty is Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon. As previously highlighted by RedState, Dhillon leads the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ). By early January, the DOJ had initiated lawsuits against 23 states—primarily those governed by Democrats—for their reluctance to comply with the department’s requests to examine voter registration records.

In a recent dialogue, Dhillon provided the public with an update on her office’s recent achievements in law enforcement, contrasting these efforts with what she describes as the misuse of power under former President Biden’s administration.

During a recent interview, Dhillon gives the American people an update on the latest wins her office has accomplished by enforcing the laws on the books, contrasting it with the glaring weaponization that took place under former Pres. Biden.

She notes that they forced North Carolina to take 100,000 voter registrations, and clean them up by proving that the people registered are U.S. citizens. She also said the DOJ helped Wyoming defend their “excellent voter ID law from challenge by the Left.”

Then she adds that she agrees with the host that “this never would have been done in the prior administration. In fact, they hired a bunch of lawyers to weaponize the federal government against states trying to do a better job of election integrity.”

“We put an end to that,” she says in conclusion. And this week, as my colleague Susie Moore detailed, Dhillon was part of another election integrity win:

The process isn’t over, though. On Friday, AAG Dhillon had some bad news for the Dems running elections in the commonwealth of Virginia – the ones who have refused to work with the administration on securing free and fair voting for all Americans – with the announcement of a 24th lawsuit:

“Virginia becomes the next state sued for ignoring federal law! @TheJusticeDept means business — and @CivilRights will keep fighting to clean up voter rolls. Happy Friday!” she wrote on her X account.

The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division, against Susan Beals, the Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Elections, states that Beals’ “refusal to provide the election records” requested by the DOJ violates Title III of the Civil Rights Act. It also asks the court to “order Commissioner Beals to provide to the Attorney General or her representative” those records of registered voters within five days of a court order.

Virginia’s Elections Commissioner might want to check her inbox immediately. We’ll provide any updates on this developing story as warranted.
