LOS ANGELES — As excitement mounts for the upcoming release of the latest “Jackass” film, Johnny Knoxville, the beloved daredevil and comedic actor, recently shared some intriguing insights into what fans can expect from the franchise’s fifth installment.
Now 54 years old, Knoxville, renowned for his fearless approach to slapstick comedy, revealed that while he remains unfazed by most injuries, he has established a strict boundary for himself when it comes to head trauma.
During an interview with Syndicate X Library, Knoxville elaborated on his current stance, explaining that he has reached his limit for concussions. “I just can’t do anything where I can get another concussion,” he stated plainly. “I’m way over my limit for concussions. But, a lot of other guys can.”
Despite this precaution, Knoxville assured fans that the rest of the “Jackass” crew is more than capable of delivering the outrageous stunts and hilarity that have defined the series. While he may be stepping back from certain high-risk antics, the upcoming movie promises to uphold the daring spirit that has captivated audiences for years.
“(I’m) way over my limit for concussions,” he said. “I just can’t get hit in the head anymore. But, a lot of other guys can.”
His last concussion was from a stunt filmed for “Jackass Forever” in 2022. He was pummeled by a bull and ended up with a brain hemorrhage, concussion — which he has had more than a dozen of that he can recall — broken ribs and broken wrist. It was that incident that led him to retire from doing stunts before this announcement.
Little is known about the newest movie, Variety reported it would feature new stunts and never-before-seen footage from previous installations.
The movie will premiere in theaters June 26 and is produced by Paramount Pictures.
Knoxville is the co-creator of the infamous stunt show “Jackass,” which aired on MTV from 2000 to 2001 and spawned a series of films continuing the hijinks. In the show and subsequent movies, Knoxville and his friends perform dangerous stunts, pranks and absurd skits for entertainment.
The franchise has become a lowbrow cultural icon, spawning parodies and copies of Knoxville’s famous catchphrase, “Hi, I’m Johnny Knoxville, and welcome to Jackass.”
In addition to co-creating and starring in the “Jackass” franchise, Knoxville has appeared in films including “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “The Ringer” and “Men in Black II.”
He most recently began hosting the newest reboot of “Fear Factor” called “Fear Factor: House of Fear,” which premiered Jan. 14.
