Florida Mom Receives Life Sentence for Killing Her 10-Year-Old Son

TAVARES, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering her 10-year-old son.

Back in February 2025, young Xavier Williams, aged 10, was rushed to a hospital in Tavares while in cardiac arrest. He bore numerous bruises, burns, and other signs of severe mistreatment. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Orlando, where he remained in intensive care for several weeks.

“Our investigation clearly shows this child endured horrific abuse. He was covered from head to toe in bruises of varying sizes and healing stages,” stated Tavares Police Detective Courtney Sullivan in February 2025.

His mother, 38-year-old Kimberly Mills, and her boyfriend, 37-year-old Andre Dwayne Walker, were indicted in April on multiple charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

The office of State Attorney Bill Gladson, who represents the fifth judicial circuit, said Kimberly Mills accepted a plea deal and was adjudicated guilty for her son’s murder. She received a life sentence and will testify against her codefendant, Andre Walker.

Walker is set to stand trial later this year.

“Our focus has always been justice for this child and accountability for those responsible,” State Attorney Bill Gladson said. “Mills’ plea, which includes truthful testimony against her co- defendant, strengthens our ability to pursue that goal and ensures the full story is brought before the court. In doing so, Mills will spend the rest of her life incarcerated. I have no doubt she will think of Xavier every waking day and regret the pain and suffering she made him endure while she repeatedly endures her own.”
