As the winter days seem to drag on with their early sunsets and dim morning commutes, there’s a beacon of hope for those longing for more daylight. The good news is that as January progresses, we gradually gain more daylight. Moreover, the return of daylight saving time is just around the corner, promising brighter evenings.
In 2026, we will “spring forward” on the earliest date possible, offering the earliest start to longer days. This adjustment is highly anticipated by many who are eager to shake off the winter gloom.
Last year, there was significant momentum towards ending the practice of changing our clocks twice a year. Bipartisan legislation, committee discussions, and support from multiple states, along with backing from the President, suggested that the semi-annual clock changes might become a thing of the past. Despite these efforts, most of the U.S. continues to adjust their clocks as usual.
