Plastic surgeons weigh in on Jimmy Kimmel's rumored cosmetic work

As one of the reigning figures in American late-night television, Jimmy Kimmel has captivated audiences for over two decades. At 58, fans are buzzing about how the talk show host maintains his remarkably youthful appearance.

When Kimmel delivered an alternative Christmas message to a British audience on Channel 4 last month, it wasn’t just his fiery comments about Donald Trump that sparked discussions. His smooth, wrinkle-free look also caught the attention of viewers.

Although Kimmel has not publicly discussed any cosmetic procedures, several top plastic surgeons speculated to the Daily Mail that his youthful appearance might be attributed to a mix of Botox, facial lifts, liposuction, and skin-tightening treatments.

Dr. Michael Zarrabi, a plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, observed that Kimmel’s once-expressive eyes now seem less animated, suggesting the possible use of Botox.

Botox is known for temporarily paralyzing facial muscles to smooth out existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from developing.

‘There’s clearly been a big change,’ Zarrabi told Daily Mail. ‘I noticed that he never squinted his eyes or got any crows feet.’

Crow’s feet develop as the skin naturally bunches around the eyes when we smile, something you might expect from someone who has spent years grinning into the lens.

‘Something seemed a little unnatural about his facial expression,’ Zarrabi noted.

The medical expert suggested the host had undergone Botox around his eyes, adding that his eyebrows also looked noticeably different after reviewing the Christmas Day clip.

Kimmel used the time slot to bash Trump and claimed the president goes after everything, ‘from the free press to science to medicine to judicial independence to the White House itself.’

Zarrabi said: ‘It’s very clear that the position of his eyebrows have become more elevated. I’d strongly suggest that he has had a brow lift surgery to raise his eyebrows, which also explains the improvement of the upper eyelid hooding.’

San Francisco plastic surgeon Dr Corey Maas told Daily Mail that Kimmel is likely keeping up Botox treatments and may have had submental liposuction, a procedure under the chin.

‘Jimmy may have had his upper eyelids done too,’ Maas said. ‘His lower eyelids, no, which make him look tired.’

Speculation has swirled for years that Kimmel had a nose job and chin work, but he has never confirmed anything.

Maas believes Kimmel’s nose may be one of his most significant changes, though he thinks the procedure likely happened some time ago rather than recently.

‘The biggest changes are a nose job sometime in his past, weight loss – which does not improve a double chin – submental liposuction or a neck tightening procedure,’ the West Coast surgeon observed.

Maas spotted another transformation: Kimmel’s jawline and neck look significantly more defined which he believes is probably thanks to doctors rather than dieting alone.

‘His slimmer look and more sculpted features as well as more upper eyelids visible – conservative blepharoplasty – are good indicators that he is making efforts to stay looking his best… while enjoying his Hamilton musical based freedom of speech,’ the surgeon said, joking about Kimmel’s holiday address.

Photos of a younger Kimmel in his familiar black suit reveal a fuller face and body, a stark contrast to the father-of-four he is today.

In 2017, the TV personality admitted to Men’s Journal that he was a total ‘foodie,’ often indulging in wings, pasta, and $2 steak dinners at the Horseshoe Casino in Vegas during his early career.

‘For years I had no idea what I weighed. I finally bought a scale in 2010. I weighed 208lbs. When you see that number, it makes you look at yourself differently,’ he told the outlet.

Around the same time, Dr Oz guest-starred on Kimmel’s show and called out his eating habits and lack of exercise during the interview.

True to form, Kimmel made a joke out of the moment, but revealed that Dr Oz called the next day, genuinely concerned about his health as a young man.

‘I was like, “You know what? Dr Oz shouldn’t care about my health more than I do,’” the host told Men’s Journal.

Kimmel kicked off an eight-week diet of just two protein shakes and a tiny dinner, then stepped up to a stricter 2,000-calorie-a-day plan – ultimately losing 25 pounds in the process.

Dr Maas told the Daily Mail that Kimmel has likely had a liposuction, neck lift or invasive procedures like Sofwave or Ultherapy

He said he later adopted the 5:2 diet – a regimen he admitted he’s followed for years, which involves severe calorie restriction two days a week.

‘I got the idea from a BBC documentary about this Indian man who seemed about 138 years old and said his secret was severe calorie restriction,’ Kimmel said.

‘On Monday and Thursday, I eat fewer than 500 calories a day, then I eat like a pig for the other five days,’ he added. ‘You “surprise” the body, keep it guessing.’

Many saw Kimmel’s weight loss as extreme yet effective, but Maas told Daily Mail that he probably had assistance from top-tier plastic surgeons.

‘The main thing changing in this 58-year-old is a better neck and jawline,’ he said. ‘It is more likely he has had a liposuction, neck lift or invasive procedures like Sofwave or Ultherapy.’

Using ultrasound technology, Sofwave treatments stimulate collagen and elastin, reducing wrinkles and tightening skin, with each session costing roughly $2,000 to $4,500 depending on the area.

Ultherapy, formerly Ulthera, uses micro-focused ultrasound to lift and tighten sagging skin on the face, neck and chin – all without surgery.

In the United States, Ultherapy treatments range from $400 to $5,000, averaging $1,000–$2,300 depending on the area, with bigger areas like the full neck costing more.

Dr Maas believes Kimmel’s nose may be one of his most significant changes, though he thinks any work done on it was from some time ago

‘In my opinion, he has had a rhinoplasty since his youth, he appears to be getting Botox and possibly submental liposuction or one of many kinds of skin tightening treatment,’ Maas observed.

However, Maas warned that both celebrities’ publicists and marketing companies frequently share ‘after’ pictures of their clients that ‘are not achievable with even the best surgeons and new technologies’.

‘With Hollywood makeup and all of the filtering with all of the AI tools that are so easy to use, their publicists and/or “handlers” are routinely making such changes,’ Maas told the Daily Mail, commenting in general and not about Kimmel specifically.

‘The public should be aware of this as it is so deceptive,’ he added.

‘The “always caveat” with these prerecorded videos is the makeup and ease of AI editing videos today makes it almost too easy to get “the look” desired by the actor or producers.’

Kimmel’s team did not immediately respond to Daily Mail’s request for comment.
