One dead in two-vehicle early morning Decatur crash

DECATUR, Ill. — The Decatur Police Department has launched an investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Maffit Street around 4 a.m., responding to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a 46-year-old man who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
