The cast of Landman undergoes a significant transformation to portray their roles in Taylor Sheridan‘s popular Paramount+ series, which differs from their real-life appearances.
Taylor Sheridan began his career as an actor before transitioning to screenwriting for films like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. He later shifted his focus to television, leading to the widespread acclaim of Yellowstone. Premiering in 2018 and running until 2024, the series spawned several offshoots, including 1883, 1923, and upcoming projects such as The Dutton Ranch, The Madison, and Y: Marshals.
Sheridan’s creative repertoire also includes original productions like Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, Tulsa King, and Landman. Drawing inspiration from the “Boomtown” podcast, Landman delves into the intricacies of the West Texas oil industry, centering on crisis manager Tommy Norris and his family.
In Landman, Billy Bob Thornton takes on the role of a corporate fixer working for oil mogul Jon Hamm. The series keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with its unexpected twists. In the season finale, Hamm’s character Monty meets his demise, while Tommy ascends to the presidency of M-Tex. However, his ascent takes a dark turn when he is kidnapped and brutally attacked by a drug cartel leader, who eventually releases him with the condition that Tommy collaborates with them.
Season 2 raised the stakes by shaking up the narrative with Demi Moore‘s Cami added into the mix more. Elsewhere in the show, Ali Larter’s Angela, Jacob Lofland‘s Cooper, Michelle Randolph‘s Ainsley and more are at the center of their own drama. Paramount+ renewed the show for season 3 before the second installment came to an end.
