Ashton Kutcher recently shared a surprising moment from his past as a model when he was deemed “too fat” for a job with Gucci. The actor, now 47, reflected on this experience while promoting his upcoming FX series, “The Beauty,” during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

In the interview, Kutcher recounted his excitement upon securing a campaign with the prestigious fashion brand, then led by designer Tom Ford. He traveled to Italy, eager to participate in a runway show for the fashion house.

“I arrived in Italy for the show, and they dressed me in a pink Speedo,” the former “That ’70s Show” star revealed.

Despite his weight being under 200 pounds at the time, Kutcher ultimately found himself dismissed from the campaign.

But despite his weight being under 200lbs, Kutcher stated that he ended up being let go.

‘And I was, like, 178 lbs. I know exactly how much I weighed – 178 lbs. [Ford] was like, “He’s too fat.” And then I got fired.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Gucci’s reps for comment, but did not immediately hear back

However, Kutcher revealed that there are no hard feelings between him and Ford following the interaction.

‘I laugh with him about it now, and he’s like, “You were too fat.” I was like, “Dude, I was 178 lbs! Like, what are you talking about?”‘ the star recalled telling the designer with a laugh.

Kutcher added that he understood Ford ‘had a specific thing that he wanted, that he wanted to see, [which] in his eye was the right thing.

‘It didn’t mean I was less, but it just meant that I wasn’t that for him for that moment,’ the actor continued.

The conversation began when Kutcher as well as his fellow co-stars Jeremy Pope and Anthony Ramos talked about the ‘idea of perfection.’

But the No Strings Attached star explained that everyone struggles when it comes to insecurities and it ‘doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like.’

He added, ‘I started modeling when I was, like, 19, and I was hanging out with what I consider to be some of the most beautiful people in the world. And what I realized really quickly is, everybody had an insecurity.

‘Everybody. If you look in the mirror long enough, you’ll find something you don’t like, or that you think could be better, or that you think could be different.’

Kutcher had been attending the University of Iowa when he was scouted by a modeling agent.

He then went on to compete and win the International Modeling and Talent Association competition in 1998 – and signed with Next modeling agency soon after.

The star would later move to the city of Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting following his success with modeling.

Kutcher has taken on the role of tech billionaire Byron Forst in the upcoming body horror series The Beauty – which is set to premiere later this month on January 21.

The FX/Hulu show was created by both Ryan Murphy and Matt Hodgson – with the cast also including Bella Hadid, Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall.

The premise is: ‘Partners Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn investigate “the Beauty” STD causing aesthetic effects but proving lethal, evading corrupt officials and a mercenary targeting them amidst a suspected government conspiracy,’ per IMDB

In regards to portraying a villainous role in the project, Kutcher admitted to Page Six that it was ‘fun’ to tackle the character.

‘I learned a long time ago you can’t judge your character and so you have to figure out how to justify why that person’s doing what they’re doing.’

Kutcher recently gave a special shout out to his ex-wife Demi Moore after her critically-acclaimed performance in the body horror movie The Substance.

The former couple were married from 2005 until their divorce in 2013. Two years later, he tied the knot with actress Mila Kunis.

‘I mean, one, Demi’s performance in The Substance, obviously she got extraordinary accolades. I’m so proud of her. She killed it,’ he gushed during his ET interview.

The actor donned a classic black suit for the occasion while Kunis glammed up in a strapless off-white gown with a black and gold pattern embroidered on the material.

The couple previously garnered backlash after they wrote letters asking for leniency in the sentencing of their former That ’70s Show castmate Danny Masterson – who was convicted of rape in 2023.

And then in 2024, the pair were once again embroiled in drama when former pal Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested on sex trafficking charges. The disgraced music mogul was later convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
