At BravoCon, Olivia Bateman opened up about a significant disagreement with her mother, Britani Bateman, which stemmed from Britani inviting Olivia’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Jared Osmond, without her knowledge. Olivia hinted that she might reveal more about her complex relationship with her mother on the next season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

In the previous season, Britani mentioned that her daughters were not speaking to her, but the new episodes feature Olivia offering her perspective. She claims Britani often places more importance on her romantic relationships than her daughters. Despite the tension, the conversation seemed constructive. Currently, Britani and Jared are engaged.

During an appearance on Positively Uncensored, Olivia discussed her current relationship with her mother.

“We do have a relationship,” Olivia admitted. “It’s just an okay one. We have our arguments. We had a major blow-up at BravoCon that probably the entire hotel heard.”

“We do have a relationship … It’s [just] an okay one,” said Olivia. “We have our fights. We had a major fight at BravoCon. Like, the whole hotel probably heard.”

She then shared what happened.

“It was supposed to be a girls’ trip. Like, I was so excited. We had planned it for months. And then her boyfriend came,” she explained. “So I was very upset. And it started out calm [as I said], ‘Mom, this was supposed to be a girls’ trip. My feelings are really hurt that you would invite your boyfriend to spend the weekend with us without consulting me. Like, at least just ask me. Like you know our history.’ And then it kind of blew up.”

“I’m fully willing to have those types of conversations on camera if my mom is,” she went on. “It’s the truth. It’s the truth of our relationship, and I’m fine with showing that.”

At one point, Olivia recalled that she begged her mom not to film RHOSLC.

“She asked kind of everybody in our entire family [if it was okay], and not a single person told her to do it, including myself,” said Olivia. “I didn’t know anything about the show, I hadn’t watched it. But I was so terrified of having our entire lives on display and having all of our skeletons in the closet come out, you know, ’cause people are gonna do their research and, you know, there’s court cases to be dug up, and I thought that I would have personal ones be brought up that I wasn’t ready to talk about, and I still don’t feel ready to talk about.”

“So I was so petrified that I basically begged my mom not to do it, and so did my sister,” she said. “But ultimately, I’m glad that she did it. I think that — I don’t know — it feels really nice to be an open book. There’s something really freeing about everybody knowing everything and not having to hide things that are happening. ‘Cause I think that that’s kind of how I grew up. Like, my mom wanted us to be the perfect family, and so a lot of things that were going on were very hush-hush or swept under the rug.”
