The announcement of the Buffalo Bills’ decision to dismiss head coach Sean McDermott sent shockwaves through the sports community, leaving fans and media members stunned. However, the reaction from some of McDermott’s former players has been one of anger and disbelief.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips voiced his strong disapproval of the move on Monday, branding the firing of McDermott as both “stupid” and “sickening.”
Taking to Instagram, Phillips expressed his frustration, stating, “This decision is honestly sickening. He’s the best coach I’ve ever worked with.”
Phillips didn’t just express his support for McDermott through words alone. He also backed his sentiments with statistics that highlighted McDermott’s achievements. The defensive player shared a graphic that showcased McDermott’s impressive record with the Bills—106 wins and 58 losses, including playoff games. It also noted the team’s rankings of fifth in points scored and third in points allowed during his leadership.
While Phillips’ outspoken remarks may not be well-received by the Bills’ management, his status as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season suggests that he may not face significant repercussions.
