Katie Bates has announced she’s seeking “legal counsel” following her husband Travis Clark’s recent admission of infidelity.
The former star of Bringing Up Bates, who is 25, addressed her followers on Instagram on Monday, January 19. She shared an update about her marriage, stating, “We are navigating this privately, receiving guidance both together and individually to determine the best path forward for our family. I am also being advised by legal counsel.”
Bates acknowledged the strain this situation has placed on her relationship with Clark, 24.
“This journey is neither quick nor simple, and it is something I approach with the utmost seriousness,” she added. “Every decision concerning our future will be made with care and deliberation, prioritizing the well-being of our family and children above all else.”
The former reality star, who welcomed kids Hailey and Harvey with Clark in 2023 and 2024, respectively, noted that her “trust has been broken.”
“Right now, I am taking life one day at a time and focusing on what matters most: our children, their future, and my own healing,” Bates continued. “At the same time, I do believe in God’s power to restore, and my heart’s desire to preserve our marriage.”
Clark, for his part, came clean about being unfaithful in his marriage with a statement shared via his Instagram Stories on Saturday, January 17, revealing, “This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did.”
He added: “This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry.”
Clark hinted that he is “taking responsibility” for his actions. “I’m sorry for the pain, humiliation and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices,” he continued. “I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for.”
The statement concluded with a request for privacy.
“I am taking responsibility by getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of [the] outcome,” Clark wrote. “I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time.”
The couple, who have been married since 2021, suffered a pregnancy loss shortly before Clark revealed his infidelity.
“I will spend the rest of my life missing you,” Bates wrote via Instagram on Friday, January 16, alongside footage from her pregnancy.
