In a harrowing incident last week in Wisconsin, a pregnant woman was brutally attacked with a baseball bat outside her workplace after completing her shift. The victim, Gheonna Lacy, works as a caretaker at a local group home and had stepped outside around 7 a.m. to warm up her car when the assault occurred, according to reports by WISN.
The shocking scene was captured by a doorbell camera. It shows two hooded individuals, one wielding a bat, rushing off-screen towards Lacy’s vehicle. The footage then records the terrifying sounds of screams and the sickening noise of the bat striking the woman.
In an interview with WISN, Lacy recounted the terrifying moment, stating, “They just immediately knocked me to the ground, started swinging the bat, and stomping me with their feet.” Her account paints a chilling picture of the violence she endured.
Lacy identified the female attacker as someone she knew and alleged that this individual had been stalking her due to a dispute over a relationship. However, she did not recognize the male accomplice involved in the attack.
She said she recognized the woman, who she said had been stalking her over some kind of relationship dispute. She did not recognize the man.
They were targeting her baby, she said, prompting her to do what she could to protect her belly.
“She was stating to kill the baby, to get the baby,” she said.
Lacy said both she and the baby are in stable condition as of Friday.
Racine police said that they are investigating but so far have made no arrests.
A GoFundMe set up by Lacy’s employer said she has two young children in addition to the one on the way.
