Tragedy struck in Florida on Monday night when a former mental health counselor was fatally stabbed, and another of her clients was gravely injured during a session. The assailant, identified as 39-year-old Michael Smith, violently interrupted a counseling session, leading to this harrowing incident.
Smith, who had previously been under the care of the counselor, 44-year-old Rebecca White, approached her while she was with another client. Demanding her attention, Smith was asked to leave, while the client threatened to call 911. It was then that Smith reportedly brandished a knife, launching a brutal attack.
Orange County deputies responded to the distress call shortly after 9 p.m. They discovered White suffering from severe injuries. Despite being swiftly transported to the hospital, White succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the client, though critically injured, underwent emergency surgery and is expected to recover.
The following morning, authorities found Smith dead from suicide, concluding the tragic series of events. This devastating incident has left a community in shock, as they grapple with the loss of a dedicated counselor and the trauma endured by her surviving client.
