A 19-year-old named Malik McKinnon has been charged with shooting a coworker in the neck following a dispute at a McDonald’s located on N. Main Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a recent incident at a Jacksonville McDonald’s, two teenagers, both aged 19, have been taken into custody after a fight escalated into a shooting.

Malik McKinnon stands accused of shooting a coworker, described as a man in his 20s, in the back area of the Oceanway establishment on Saturday afternoon.

The arrest report, citing eyewitnesses, details that the altercation began when a coworker instructed Malik to leave work. The situation quickly turned physical, involving a total of four individuals, including another 19-year-old, Malachi McKinnon.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the dispute culminated with Malik firing a shot that struck the victim in the neck. The injured man was reported to be in critical condition as of Saturday night.

Malik and Malachi reportedly fled the area, but were found by police a short time later.

Malik McKinnon is charged with attempted murder and carrying a concealed weapon while underage, while Malachi McKinnon was arrested for illegally carrying a concealed weapon and destroying or concealing evidence.

“We’re deeply saddened by this violent attack at our restaurant,” said Tom Lisante, the McDonald’s owner and operator, in a statement to First Coast News Sunday. “We’re keeping the victim and their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers and offering our full support to local law enforcement.”

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Duval County court on Feb. 10, 2026, as of this publication.
