Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman and the president of Ratel, has recently drawn attention with a video addressing the issue of road safety, using Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua’s tragic experience as a focal point.

In December 2025, Joshua faced a heartbreaking incident when two of his friends lost their lives in a car accident during a visit to Ogun State, Nigeria. Joshua and his driver were the only survivors of the crash, after which Joshua was hospitalized overseas. This incident prompted widespread online discussions about road safety concerns.

While attending the AFCON match between Nigeria and Morocco, Verydarkman released a video from Morocco, urging viewers to consider the importance of road safety practices. The footage captures him beside a road sign displaying “80,” which he used as a tool to advocate for the implementation of speed limit signs in Nigeria to help prevent accidents like the one involving Joshua’s friends.

Verydarkman explained that the number on the sign represents the maximum speed permissible for drivers. He recounted his experiences in Morocco, where police frequently halted vehicles for overspeeding and issued fines as a deterrent. This enforcement, he noted, plays a vital role in minimizing reckless driving and enhancing road safety.

The video also includes a demonstration of the car’s dashboard, showcasing the speed at which the vehicle was traveling. Verydarkman pointed out that speed limits are often reduced near bends, with visible signage to direct drivers and ensure their safety.

VDM urged Nigerian authorities and road safety agencies to install proper road signs and deploy police officers to monitor traffic offenses.

Previously, Verydarkman reacted to the tragic accident involving Joshua’s friends, blaming a truck parked along the roadside and criticizing the government for lacking basic road safety infrastructure. He also called for stricter regulation of trucks on Nigerian roads.

Finally, VDM reflected on the emotional impact of the tragedy on Joshua, who had lost friends visiting to celebrate with him, while offering prayers for the deceased and their families.
