AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has reported that deputies were dispatched to the 2900 block of Fox Hall Circle following reports of gunfire.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, upon their arrival on January 20, the individual involved supposedly emerged from the residence and discharged a firearm into the air. During the initial phone communication, the suspect allegedly made threats to harm the deputies.
After a tense standoff, with the help of a neighbor and an RCSO negotiator, the individual surrendered peacefully, emerging from the home without any weapons. He was taken into custody smoothly and is currently being taken to a hospital for evaluation before being moved to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
The authorities confirmed the house has been secured, and no other individuals were found inside.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of securing warrants related to this incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, more information will be provided on charges when available.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley released the following statement on the incident:
“This marks the third SWAT call out in the past week, and each incident has ended peacefully due to the specialized training and equipment that our teams have worked hard to put in place. The immediate response by our deputies and the cooperation from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, supported by our mutual aid agreements, have been essential in ensuring safe outcomes. We are very grateful for the strong partnership between our agencies and the commitment of every deputy involved.”
