SAVANNAH, Ga. — In a heartfelt tribute to those who serve, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Veterans’ Salute and Military Update on Wednesday. This event united the local business community in paying respect to military personnel.
The gathering took place at the Air Dominance Center within Savannah’s Combat Readiness Training Center, attracting a diverse crowd of business leaders, veterans, and community members.
Major General Konata “Deuce” Crumbly, Commanding General of the Georgia Air National Guard, captivated the audience with a keynote address. He shared insights from his distinguished career, which spans commanding Black Hawk missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and leading a force of over 2,900 airmen and civilians throughout Georgia.
The chamber expressed its commitment to maintaining this annual tradition, underscoring its importance in the community.
Sam McCachern, Chief Executive Officer of Thomas and Hutton, emphasized the significance of gratitude, saying, “Our freedom is safeguarded by those in uniform and veterans alike. It’s crucial that we express our gratitude, and frankly, we don’t do it nearly enough.”
The chamber said events like this ensure the community stays informed and involved with the men and women who serve.
