Actor Colin Egglesfield has provided a health update following his third cancer diagnosis.

In January 2025, the 52-year-old star of Something Borrowed disclosed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, having previously faced testicular cancer on two occasions.

During an interview with E! News published on January 21, Egglesfield announced the positive news that he is now “cancer-free” and “feeling great.”

“I’m thankful to be here,” the All My Children star expressed. “I’m just grateful to be past this and ready to move forward with my life.”

The 2011 film Something Borrowed continues to captivate audiences, and more than a decade later, fans are still eager for a sequel to explore more of Rachel and Darcy’s intricate narratives. The romantic comedy, based on Emily Giffin’s novel of the same name, starred Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel and Kate Hudson as Darcy.

Egglesfield told E! News he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in late 2024 and underwent prostatectomy surgery shortly after he got the news. He has had now had a clean bill of health for nearly a year.

“It’ll be a year in February. Fortunately, they caught it early enough where I didn’t have to do any radiation or chemotherapy or anything and that’s one of the things that I just wanted to avoid,” he said.

Egglesfield said his early diagnosis was a vast difference from when he was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006.

Back then, he said, “I waited almost until it was too late and it had started to spread. So when they did the surgery and they tested lymph nodes and that sort of thing, they determined that it had spread. So I had to do radiation treatment and I did not want to go through any of that stuff anymore.”

“It’s a tough decision to have a prostatectomy because a lot of men will elect to do the radiation pellets,” Egglesfield added, explaining that he opted against radiation therapy because he had it before and was told having it again could cause secondary cancers.

Although he is now cancer-free, Egglesfield said he is still recovering from his cancer battle.

“It hasn’t been an easy recovery because there’s learning how to go to the bathroom again, and erectile stuff,” the Melrose Place actor said. “But knowing that I don’t have to deal with this in the future, and I can potentially move on, is something I’m super grateful for.”

He continued, “Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few health care professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”

“Hopefully this is a reminder to everyone that you’re not alone with whatever you’re facing and that it’s important to advocate for yourself and your health which includes checkups, seeking information and asking for help when you need it!” Egglesfield added.
