Los Angeles is buzzing with excitement as nomination day for the 2026 Oscars has finally arrived.
The anticipation came to a head this morning when the nominees for the 98th Academy Awards were announced in a live event held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. This prestigious event, which captures the attention of film enthusiasts worldwide, unveiled the contenders across all 24 categories.
In keeping with tradition, each category features five nominees, except for the most coveted award of the night—Best Picture—which boasts 10 contenders vying for the honor.
Earlier this month, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences disclosed that 317 feature films were in the running for this year’s Oscars. Specifically, 201 films were eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category, underscoring the competitive spirit of this illustrious event.
Adding to the excitement, Conan O’Brien will once again take the helm as host, marking his second consecutive year in this role, promising an evening of charm and wit.
The 2026 Oscars will air on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
