CHICAGO — On Thursday morning, a water main break on the North Side of Chicago presented an unexpected obstacle for commuters. Among those affected were children making their way to school, navigating through icy waters. However, one young pedestrian was spared a cold journey thanks to the thoughtful actions of a vigilant crossing guard.
The incident unfolded early in the day near the intersection of West Bryn Mawr Avenue and North California Avenue. The break resulted in significant flooding at the crossroads, complicating the morning commute for many.
Aerial footage captured by SkyCam 9 around 8 a.m. depicted the scene, showing cars cautiously maneuvering through the accumulating water. A police car was stationed to block access, directing traffic away from the submerged intersection.
