AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Sand Hills community came together on Thursday evening for an important meeting focused on the future of their neighborhood. The gathering centered around the much-anticipated Sand Hills Estates redevelopment project.
During the meeting, city officials presented the plans for the project and engaged with residents, addressing their questions and concerns. This dialogue was crucial in outlining the path forward for the long-neglected area.
Community member Janice Riley-Boyle expressed a common sentiment among attendees, stating, “The consensus seems to be frustration over the lack of progress. This park has been neglected for years, so the prospect of it transforming into something new is a positive step toward improving our community. There may be varying opinions on the type of development, but overall, there is an expectation of progress and the construction of new facilities.”
Residents emphasized the importance of receiving further details before any development begins on the Weed School property. Their desire for transparency and involvement in the process is evident as they look toward the future of Sand Hills.
