A startling video captures the moment a female student pursued a classmate through a classroom at a Detroit high school, allegedly brandishing a box cutter, while a teacher attempted to defuse the situation.
According to Detroit police, this unsettling event unfolded at Denby High School, as reported by FOX 2 in Detroit.
Authorities have not yet determined what triggered the confrontation, but the incident has been widely shared in a video circulating online.
The footage starts with a student in a blue beanie and headphones gesturing towards another student, who is wearing a face mask.
As the masked student moves closer, the other student retreats, eventually turning and sprinting across the classroom, colliding with desks as the chase ensues.
After the student in the blue beanie flees the classroom, the other student approaches the doorway, where a teacher attempts to stop her by using a chair to block the exit.
An object, appearing to be a box cutter, can be seen falling from the student’s hand.
She later retrieves the object before running into the hallway.

One student asks, “Is that a pocketknife?” as the student runs down the hallway and out of sight. Faculty members also charged after the student.
In a statement obtained by FOX 2, the school district confirmed that a student brought a box cutter to campus and attempted to attack another student.
“There were no injuries associated with the incident,” the statement said. “The student has been arrested and will not be returning to Denby or another district school. Additional police presence will be at the school tomorrow.”
Fox News Digital also reached out to the school district.
The Detroit Police Department has opened an investigation into the matter, which remains ongoing.
