EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — In a heartwarming twist at Effingham High School, a multimedia class turned the tables by helping a teacher in a time of need. Typically, teachers are the ones guiding and supporting students, but this time, the students rose to the occasion to assist their teacher, Jean Cornell, and her beloved dog, Captain.

Captain, Cornell’s dog, had been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, leaving him struggling to move as he could no longer support his weight on his legs. Witnessing Captain’s plight, the students, driven by their compassion and ingenuity, decided to use their skills to make a difference. With a blend of tactical thinking and problem-solving, they set out to alleviate Captain’s mobility issues.
