The excitement of The Traitors Season 4 continues to captivate audiences, with its thrilling competition keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. So far in the series, one Traitor has been exposed, while three others remain cleverly concealed among the contestants.
In a recent twist, a Faithful contestant faced banishment for potentially disrupting the gameplay. The incident unfolded after Michael Rapaport made controversial remarks hinting at Colton Underwood’s sexuality, prompting a backlash from fellow participants. Now, Colton is opening up about his genuine reactions to the situation.
During last week’s episode of The Traitors, tensions flared at the roundtable when Michael found himself in hot water over comments directed at Colton. As Colton pointed fingers at Michael, accusing him of being a Traitor, Michael defensively retorted that if anyone could keep a secret, it would be Colton.
In last week’s episode of The Traitors, Michael came under fire at the roundtable for comments he made about Colton. When Colton was accusing him of being a Traitor, Michael grew defensive, saying that, if anyone were able to hold onto a secret, it would be Colton.
Many people thought that Michael’s remarks alluded to the fact that Colton didn’t come out of the closet until later in life, after his time on The Bachelor, and it struck many around the table as offensive. Colton seemed shocked that Michael would say that, and he responded with a single question:
You think it was fun for 29 years of my life?
Though Michael tried to walk it back, saying he didn’t mean it that way, the offense he caused sealed his fate, and he was voted out that episode. Despite Michael being revealed to be a Faithful, the rest of the cast seemed grateful to have him gone.
Colton Says He’s Not Upset With Michael
Though Michael’s remarks infuriated cast members and viewers alike, Colton has since shared that he’s not holding a grudge against him. He shared, in a candid conversation with Entertainment Weekly, that while that type of comment could be triggering, he understood that The Traitors was meant to be a competitive game—and nothing more than that.
“The coming-out process takes a long time, and I’m still very much in my coming-out process, so there’s always little things here and there that sort of re-trigger old emotions,” he said. “I’m still working on how to process it, and I think you definitely see that come up and hit me.”
Colton shared that he had signed onto the show in the first place because he knew it would be intense:
The reason I said yes to doing a show like The Traitors is it’s not personal. The drama and the intensity of the show is always so game-focused, so I think that’s what just threw me a little bit, is when it got personal and [Michael] was using me as a human being instead of my gameplay against me. That’s what caught me off guard.
If anything, Colton divulged that he empathized with Michael. “In the short time that I got to know Michael, he was self-aware enough. He’s a fast talker, he’s a slick talker, and he said it in one of his interviews, his mouth gets him in trouble,” he pointed out.
