According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, one of the two individuals injured during a recent shooting is among three suspects, all of whom were masked during the incident.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A home invasion in Jacksonville on Thursday afternoon escalated into a shooting, injuring two people, including one of the suspects, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office early Friday.

Sgt. Johnson from the JSO stated that officers arrived at the scene, located in the 9100 block of 6th Avenue, shortly after 2:06 p.m. in response to the incident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a man in his late 30s, seated in a vehicle parked outside a residence.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that three masked individuals armed with weapons forced their way into the victim’s home with the intention of robbery,” Johnson explained to First Coast News. “During the confrontation, the suspects opened fire on the victim, who then retaliated, hitting one of the suspects.”

Johnson said the suspect who was struck crawled out of the residence and was found in the front yard of the home when officers arrived. Both the victim and suspect who was shot were taken by to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Johnson.

The two other suspects fled the area on foot and are still outstanding at this time, Johnson said.

While on scene, Johnson said detectives reviewed surveillance video of the incident and spoke with “potential witnesses.”

According to JSO, the incident is believed to be isolated.

Anyone with information about what occurred is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS, or you can email them at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org.
