Yet, rather than opting for a luxurious California king or a specially designed custom bed, the 32-year-old from New Zealand chooses the simplicity of sleeping on the floor, as he shared in a recent social media post.

“Welcome to my space,” Adams stated in a video on @Funakistats, a social media account dedicated to his life and career. “This is where I rest. I typically sleep right here.”

In the video, Adams is comfortably seated in a modestly decorated room, pointing to the floor where his sleeping arrangements consist of a sleeping bag laid over a thin foam pad, barely passing for a mattress.

‘So I put this down,’ Adams continued. ‘Sleeping bag, that’s better for my back. I like sleeping on the ground.’

This was not the first time the 265-pound Adams revealed his paltry sleeping accommodations online. 

At the onset of his current stint with the Rockets in October of 2024, Adams shared a photo of an even smaller room with nothing but a single mattress on the floor. And while sheets and a single pillow were visible in the 2024 photo, a box spring was nowhere to be seen.

Adams’s Houston-area home isn’t his only residence. He also owns a New Zealand dairy farm that additionally produces kiwi and avocado.

‘We have about roughly 500 dairy cows, so it’s a dairy operation,’ Adams told the ‘Young Man and the Three’ podcast in December. 

‘And then the other operation in there is kiwi fruit and avocado. It’s in the North Island of New Zealand. It’s kind of right on the coast, real beautiful piece of land. It’s nice on the beach, whatnot. Like it’s pretty.’

Adams likes to keep things fairly simple. While showing @Funakistats his guitar collection, Adams was asked why he didn’t pay to upgrade his 13-year-old amplifiers.

‘No need to,’ he said. ‘And I’m not good enough to get like something more fancy. I don’t know… It still does good stuff.’

Adams is signed through the 2027-28 season after agreeing to a three-year, $39 million extension with the Rockets in June. He has $184 million in career earnings and will reach $209 million by the end of his current deal. 

The latest Adams video surfaced just as the veteran center was ruled out indefinitely with a grade 3 ankle sprain. It’s the latest in a series of ankle issues he’s battled since 2019.

Meanwhile, the Rockets remain in the thick of the playoff hunt at 26-16, which is good enough for fourth in the NBA’s Western Conference.
