A Texas woman has been taken into custody after allegedly causing severe injuries by dousing two young children with boiling water. The victims, a toddler and a teenager, suffered serious burns.

Stacy Gilbert was apprehended in the early morning of January 20, following a call to a residence in San Antonio. Upon arrival, police discovered a 2-year-old and a 13-year-old with significant burn injuries, according to an initial report from the San Antonio Police Department.

Authorities revealed that Gilbert, for reasons yet to be determined, became agitated with the children and assaulted them by throwing boiling water while they were in their bedroom.

The injured children were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. Gilbert faces charges that include Injury to a Child with Intent to Cause Bodily Harm and Injury to a Child through Reckless Conduct.

A representative from the San Antonio Police Department informed Oxygen that Gilbert and the victims are related, though the exact nature of their familial connection has not been disclosed.

Neighbors in Gilbert’s community who spoke to San Antonio news station KSAT, expressed their concern.

“Honestly, I can’t really imagine why anyone would do that,” one resident told the station. “They’re kids.”

Added another neighbor, “That is treacherous to do something like that .

Oxygen could not locate an attorney for Gilbert.
